Personally, I have created a blog and have started blogging.  I must now find different ways to integrate blogging into my classroom setting. A blog can be used in my Language Arts class as an outlet for students to share their thoughts and ideas on the novel that they are currently reading and the other novels that they will read throughout the school year. As they share, they will be able to facilitate their own learning by questioning each other. They will also be able to clear up any misunderstandings that each of them might have.

  1. I like your idea of students sharing ideas in your Language Arts class; students will most likley feel more free to say what they want to their peers and might express themselves more. Is there any perticular subject you are working on now that a blog would go around?

  2. How would this work? Would you post something new for them each week to respond to or are you letting the students bring up the topics? If you are letting the students post the topics, how are the logistics going to work? Do all of your students have access to a computer? How will this be graded?

  3. What about assigning a topic for them to research and have them post their links and a summary or feedback from the information discovered? Or, since you are using LA as your focus, have them write a novella? Story starters come from class and they go from there. The comments will grow and the story will change and grow with them!

  4. You're right about the students "facilitating their own learning." Blogging our books, aka The Read Write Web is the new reading groups. The students can answer eachothers questions. Great stuff Denise!
