After part one of my workshop today, I am reminded of the importance of interacting with colleagues which is one of the goals in my GAME Plan. We were able to share ideas and give suggestions about best practices in regards to giving feedback to students. We discussed the importance of not only just giving the feedback, but to also give the students the opportunity to think about the opinions shared and what steps if any are necessary afterwards. Also, we shared strategies that were beneficial to students during the implementation of the curriculum that was new to most of the teachers last year.
To be successful with all aspects of my plan, I am still working on community involvement. I now have a colleague and friend who want to get more involved in the community as well. We had a discussion and we are in the process of deciding on where to volunteer our time.
Having a GAME Plan give me the opportunity to not only set goals but to also put into action the practices that will lead to success.

ReplyDeleteOne easy way to get involved in the community is by going and supporting your students at sporting events. I try very hard to go to at least one or two sporting event each season. This build relationships with not only the students but also the family. Just an idea, I hope you are successful in meeting the goals you have established for yourself.

Because I've been following you on this blog, I'm going to subscribe to gain little nuggets of information you get from professional development. I hope you've started to think about posting what you learn in your technology trainings, so teachers in your school and folks like me can learn from you! Keep in mind too that you can buy a domain name like denisepatrick.com and forward the link to a site like this if that makes it easier for people to remember your site after they've met with you and learned some things (and want to go back to review what they've learned). ReplyDeleteIt is great that you were able to meet someone that shares your commitment to the community. This can only add value to your students learning experience and their character development.
I agree that creating the GAME plan has added some direction for myself. I want to follow through with my goals as we start this next school year. i only wish I would have been able to implement them when they were still so fresh in my brain.

ReplyDeleteI too have seen how the students and even their parents react when they see teachers who are supportive of their children at out of school events. They want to see that we care and are appreciative when we hold to an invitation.
